Its time for concerts again! Keeping in mind that we ought to go for at least 3 concerts per year; I have three awesome concerts to promote today :D All of them are highly recommended-- with two recommended by Wu Lao Shi.
1. Many Faces of SHENG
WHERE: Esplanade Recital Hall
WHEN: 9th September 2010, Thursday 7.30pm
TICKET PRICE: $28
This concert will feature the sheng instrument, and is definitely not a concert to be missed by the sheng players :D The songs that are going to be played include premiere songs like "Zen" by local composer Benjamin Lim, Winter Hunting, The Winter Plum, Traumerei, Nasreddin's Medley and Tunes of Shanxi Opera.
2. Scenic Sounds of the Grassland
WHERE: Esplanade Concert Hall
WHEN: 29th September 2010, Sunday 5pm
TICKET PRICE: $25, $35, $45
Presented by the Nayang Academy of Fine Arts, specially for the Mid-Autumn Festival. This concert is a combination of Chinese Orchestral, folk and opera music and performed with the Baotou City Man Han Perfomance Troupe. Havent seen chinese orchestra music played to accompany a opera performance? This is one unique performance not to be missed!
3. Sun Huang in Concert
WHERE: Esplanade Recital Studio
WHEN: 19th and 20th October 2010, 7.30pm
TICKET PRICE: $42
Presented by the TENG Company; Sun Huang is the foremost erhu player of her generation and she has won first prizes at almost every major professional international Erhu competition. The two concerts would be rare and breathtaking solo recitals accompanied by Qu Dawei on the piano. There would be multiple pieces which are of local and world premiere; making it an extremely worthwhile concert.
CO please go to Jolene or Venetia for ticket orders, preferably with your money as well. For the above concerts, please inform welfare by 2nd September, Thursday. Nevertheless, the sooner the better!
