School's finally out and it's time to relax-- and there's finally time to go for concerts! Okay I've sourced sistic and apparently there aren't many these two months, but those I've found are rather good.
1. Tunes of the Butterfly Lovers
WHERE: SCO Concert Hall (Singapore Conference Hall)
WHEN: 26th and 27th November (Fri/Sat), 8PM
TICKET PRICE: (Concession Price) $15 or $20
One of China’s best known concerto “The Butterfly Lovers”, will be performed for the second time on SCO’s stage by guest violinist Sha Xiao Cao under the baton of her father, famous conductor Cao Peng. Other highlights include Jing Jian Shu’s “The First Suite of Yellow River Expressions” and Taiwanese composer Huang Fu Tang’s “Escape from the Temple”.
2. Virtuosos of the Ruan
WHERE: Esplanade Recital Studio
WHEN: 1st December (Wednesday), 7.30PM
TICKET PRICE: (With concession) $20
Five of the orchestra's ruan musicians - Zhang Rong Hui, Cheng Tzu Ting, Foong Chui San, Han Ying and Jing Po - will play both solo and in ensemble. The repertoire includes newly arranged ruan pieces such as Moon over Mount Guan, The Flowing Stream, as well as distinguished Chinese composer Ning Yong’s Ancient Tune of Mount Zhongnan. These will give full expression to the diverse range and tone colours of the ruan.
3. Ten Years of Ruan by Ding Xiao Yan
WHERE: SCO Concert Hall
WHEN: 16th November (Tuesday), 7.30PM
TICKET PRICE: $20
This concert has been highly recommended by Liu Laoshi, presented by Ding Xiao Yan's Ruan Ensemble and the Tampines Ruan Ensemble.
