As we've said before, it'll be best if you could take the NUS exam because you'll have a certificate to prove your proficiency in an instrument and it will be beneficial if you wish to DSA. And we'll also be testing grading songs during future RSCs so since you have to practice those songs anyway, it'll make more sense if you can take the examination! Furthermore, the discounts if you sign up now are pretty large, they range from about $20 for lower grades to $50 for grade 8. And you won't have to worry anymore about not having any sectional songs to play because you can always use your grading songs if you really have no time to learn new songs.
